Broadwayworld.com is reporting that Hugh Jackman is working one two musical projects: one for the silver screen and one for Broadway.

Jackman has been in the workshopping process of the new musical about the life of Houdini. Danny Elfman is writing the music, and it is expected to be staged on Broadway in Spring of 2010. It would be Jackman’s first acting gig on Broadway since winning the Tony for The Boy from Oz.

In terms of movies, Jackman is helping rework the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel. The movie was originally made in 1956. The role of Billy Bigelow is considered one of the great musical theater roles for men, so it’ll be exciting to see Jackman take the role on.

No other cast or director has been announced but the role.
